Pregnancy Yoga Comes to Weymouth

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010, Posted in Uncategorized

We are delighted to be able to offer Pre-Natal Yoga classes from Friday 7th January 2011.  Classes run at The Light and Energy Centre, (formerly Nutri-Train) Unit 1, Jubilee Enterprise Centre, DT4 7BS from 9.30 to 10.30 am every Friday.  The Pregnancy Yoga class is followed by the Meditation Group which is also an excellent opportunity for pregnant mothers to deepen the meditation practice touched on in the yoga classes.

The Integral Yoga for Pregnancy classes are specifically tailored for pregnant women who have completed their first trimester of pregnancy.  The class combines gentle stretches, breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation.

The pre-natal yoga sequence stimulates blood supply to the internal organs and developing foetus, helps maintain correct posture, balances the central nervous system and tones the muscles, particularly of the pelvis, abdomen and along the spine.  Consequently common ailments such as backache, leg cramps, breathlessness and edema in the feet can be reduced or eliminated.  The breathing exercises ensure an abundant supply of oxygen for both mother and child.

General physical stamina is improved, thus facilitating an easier delivery, reducing distress and fatigue. Emotional stability is improved as anxiety and insomnia are alleviated.

Deep relaxation and meditation provides a rare opportunity to focus on connecting with baby on a deeper level, helping to strengthen the growing bond between mother and child.  As a therapeutic tool, meditation is proven to help resolve neuroses, fears and inner conflict which can arise during pregnancy.
